  • Is Price the Only Factor?

When shopping for insurance, several things should be considered. Price should be a factor, but it should not be the sole consideration for re-marketing your insurance. So many times we pick up the phone with a potential customer and ask why they are getting quotes on their insurance and many times we hear "I'm trying to get the cheapest price I can find." Insurance is confusing stuff, and when you are out trying to find the lowest price you can, most of the time you are sacrificing coverage, customer service, and having a trusted advisor when it comes to protecting your assets.

Most individuals and business owners don't go out and shop for the cheapest attorneys, accountants, and doctors etc. You choose someone you trust. So why do people do it with insurance agents? Price should be a factor but having the proper coverage and a trusted advisor should be the number one goal when it comes to insurance. That is what we want for our clients.

Another big complaint we hear when someone is shopping their insurance is that they are unhappy with the claims service and customer service from their current company. Our first question to them is "how did you end up with this company to begin with", and the overwhelming response we receive is "they were the cheapest of all companies when I was shopping for insurance." So the old adage, you get what you pay for, is usually true. Are you willing to protect all of your assets by hanging your hat on the very cheapest insurance price you could find When you find out your house has burned to the ground, are you comfortable with having the cheapest policy you could find?

We want our clients to rest assured they will have our full support if a claim/problem/issue occurs, regardless of the price paid for their policy. That's why we have an agent, isn't it? We are also here to help clients through the claims process and provide personal customer service and advice. (However, the final decision on coverage belongs to the client). So we ask you this, is it worth maybe paying a little more to get better customer service, better claims service, and a trusted advisor that you can speak with at any time?

Our office has a commitment to our clients and the insurance industry and we are not just selling a commodity.

One Man’s Vision For A Better World.

Frustrated by insurance rates that were unreasonably high and claims settlements that were routinely handled with disregard, Robert Pein was determined to create a new kind of insurance company dedicated to serving the needs of the community – not the needs of the insurance executives.

In 1921, State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company was founded. With three employees and a rented room in downtown Columbus, Ohio, Pein set forth to tackle the inequities in the insurance industry. From the very beginning, State Auto advocated the independent agency system as the best approach to serving the needs of its policyholders. To this day, as hometown neighbors, local independent agents continue to provide efficient, professional and more personalized service than that of their competitors. Just like Robert Pein had always dreamed.

Today, the State Auto Insurance Group employs approximately 2,000 associates and markets its products through more than 3,000 independent agencies in 33 states. Group assets are in excess of $3.25 billion with annual direct written premium in excess of $1.5 billion.  Corporate headquarters is in Columbus, Ohio, where State Auto was founded in 1921.  Regional headquarters are located in Nashville TN, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Austin TX and Baltimore MD.

The State Auto Group is rated A+ (Superior) by the A.M. Best Company and consists of State Automobile Mutual, State Auto Property & Casualty, State Auto National, State Auto Ohio, State Auto Wisconsin, State Auto Florida, Milbank, Farmers Casualty, Meridian Security, Meridian Citizens Mutual, Beacon National, Beacon Lloyds, Patrons Mutual and Litchfield Mutual Fire.
